Nursing ED & Informatics Specialists
The Nursing Education and Informatics Specialist is accountable and responsible for facilitating delivery of quality patient care through the use of clinical and financial systems. This role provides consultation and coordination to the educational development and training of staff members and acts as a role model in clinical practice. The Nursing Education and Informatics Specialist strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating evidence-based practice and standards of excellence into clinical practice and information systems. Additionally, this role serves as a liaison for clinicians to facilitate a common understanding of information system needs, end user processes, and alignment the with organizational goals and clinical practice and excellence.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Master of Science in Nursing, Information Technology, or equivalent preferred
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum five (5) years of Nursing experience
• Two (2) years' experience in informatics training, nursing education, staff or professional development preferred
• Demonstrated experience in evaluating, designing, and implementing informatics programs, tools and medical devices that compliment and interface with electronic medical record systems required
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• Epic experience preferred
• Epic certification preferred
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems with on-the-job training
• Strong data and systems analysis skills
• Proficient communication skills (oral and written) • Excellent interpersonal skills and demeanor that promote effective interaction with multidisciplinary health care providers, academic departments, vendors, and others
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
• RN licensed in the state of Illinois
• ANCC Certification for Professional Development or Informatics Nursing preferred
