Job description

Overview

The Clinical Informatics Analyst is a member of the clinical informatics team supporting the hospital’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and clinical systems and applications used by clinical staff, operational teams, and IT. This position reports to the Manager, Clinical Informatics and is a non-clinical position focused on daily user support, clinical applications and EMR support, optimization, interoperability, data querying/extraction, data integrity, and training coordination to enhance patient care delivery and support operational performance aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

EHR & Clinical Systems/Applications Support

  • Provide frontline support and troubleshooting for EHR and clinical applications access (e.g., AS400, Medhost, TigerConnect, Commure Pro, etc. and coordinate user issues with the IT support team
  • Log and track user issues, troubleshoot, and/or escape to informatics team or vendors as appropriate
  • Support Clinical Informatics Specialists with CPOE and EHR documentation builds and optimization requests
  • Assist with system upgrades, testing cycles, enhancements, and downtime activities as assigned

System Configuration & Maintenance

  • Conduct scheduled EMR periodic maintenance activities
  • Maintain/update current user access, personas, and new access for providers and staff

Regulatory & Compliance Support

  • Support interoperability activities including (chart audits, continuing care documentation and transmissions
  • Support error report resolution and assist with reporting requirements for CMS, Joint Commission, and other agencies
  • Support chart audits and ensure accurate system data capture
  • Help maintain compliance with healthcare data standards and policies

Education & Training Support

  • Coordinate clinical user and provider training
  • Assist with development of training materials and presentations
  • Coordinate and maintain training records

Data Analysis, Querying & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain queries, reports, dashboards, and data extracts
  • Support quality improvement and operational initiatives
  • Monitor and maintain data integrity and consistency

Team & Project Support

  • Participate in EHR implementations, upgrades, and optimization projects as assigned
  • Support user testing (UAT), downtime, and go-live activities
  • Maintains a professional working relationship with coworkers, leaders, providers and staff
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure successful system adoption
  • Participate in meetings and committees as designated
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or healthcare-related degree, information systems, healthcare administration, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare, clinical systems support, clinical informatics, or similar
  • Experience in a hospital or health system environment
  • Experience with querying and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Tableau) or aptitude to learn
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience working with electronic health records (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or other)

Preferred

  • Experience with Medhost electronic health record or other EHR
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics and regulatory reporting
