Position/Rank Informatics/Health Services Faculty Researcher Department 00952 - Division of Epidemiology City Salt Lake City, UT Track Track Dependent on Qualifications New Position to Begin Upon Hire Details
The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Utah is recruiting faculty to lead cutting-edge informatics and artificial intelligence product development and implementation and health services research while promoting and facilitating collaboration.
Priority areas of focus include expertise in artificial intelligence implementation in real world settings an embedded data scientist, data science in general and augmented intelligence (AI), cognitive informatics/decision support, population health and data analytics, sociotechnical systems analysis and implementation science. Faculty selected will develop, implement and evaluate health information technologies, process modeling, digital health, sociotechnical systems, patient safety, and other areas of health services research including dissemination science, pharmacoepidemiology. Prospective faculty will work closely with an active VA operations advanced informatics development group and join a culture of collaborative and innovative research that crosses departments and schools within the University of Utah. Unique opportunities at the University of Utah include research on healthcare quality in a health system that has been rated among the top 10 hospitals in the United States for a decade. Resources include the VA Informatics, Decision-Enhancement and Analytic Science (IDEAS) Center, an Informatics/Health Services Research & Development-supported center housed at the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System.
Existing areas of strength at the University of Utah and VA Salt Lake City Health Care System include biomedical informatics, clinical and population health, decision support systems, medical decision-making and patient preference assessment, survey research and measure development, data science, mixed methods, genomics, addiction medicine, neuroepidemiology, and infectious diseases.
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered, applicants must possess a PhD, PharmD, MD, or doctoral degree in a related discipline, currently have secured funding, demonstrate authorship, and have a program of research.
Preferred Qualification: Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have working knowledge with VA data, cloud infrastructure, and implementation of artificial intelligence products in real world health environments. As a key member of the Department of Internal Medicine, the successful faculty candidate will be a highly motivated investigator whose major focus is research and future productivity.
