JOB TITLE:ย  ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Admissions Supervisor

DEPARTMENT:ย  Admissions

REPORTS TO:ย  ย ย  Admissions Manager

SUPERVISES:ย  ย ย ย  ย Admission/Scheduling

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Functions under the supervision of Patient Financial Services Manager.
  • Ensures appropriate organizational practices are in use.
  • Promotes good public relations through contacts with patients, practitioners, visitors, employees, peers and the public at large.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Directs and coordinates Inpatient, Outpatient, and Emergency Room Admitting data gathering and record keeping with regard to admissions, transfers and other patient information.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises Admission and Scheduling clerks.
  2. Responsible for providing the PRN staff with a schedule with advance notice.
  3. Responsible for covering a shift if someone calls in and cannot find coverage.
  4. Responsible for review and verification of patient information entered by the Admissions Clerk via face sheets received on a daily basis.
  5. Resolves complaints regarding Inpatient, Outpatient and Emergency Room Admitting Department in a timely manner using good judgment and good customer relations skills.
  6. Explains and demonstrates changes in hospital policy or work procedure to staff and others who need to know.
  7. Interacts with others (on the phone or in person) in a positive, professional and appropriate manner.
  8. Responsible for performing all employee evaluations in a timely manner.
  9. Responsible for providing disciplinary actions when situations call for such.
  10. Sorts and distributes computer reports to departments, if needed.
  11. Assists with training and orienting of new departmental staff.ย 
  12. Assists in maintaining established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
  13. Works cooperatively with others.ย  Has respect for and an understanding of the contributions of all team members.
  14. Attends required meetings and actively participates on committees.ย ย 
  15. Protects patient confidentiality by promoting appropriate staff communication practices.ย ย ย 
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.ย 

MINIMUM EDUCATION

High School Graduate or GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

At least two years of previous Hospital Admissions experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

At least two years of previous Hospital Admissions experience.
