A horse trainer works with horses to make them obedient to cues from a rider and perform in a desired manner. As a horse trainer, you plan exercises, introduce riding equipment such as bridles and saddles to the horse, and treat minor injuries. You primarily ride the horse during training, and you may also prep for and compete at events. Day-to-day barn facility tasks such as cleaning out stalls, filling feeding bins, and organizing equipment may also be part of your duties. Under your supervision, horses learn exemplary behaviors and horse owners learn how to maintain the training you’ve put in place.
