Salary Range: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour (DOE and state) + Tips

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for washing all dishes, kitchen equipment, and food preparation equipment. They maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas including the line, BOH prep areas, storage, and walk-in. Monitors dishwashing machine to ensure proper operation, cleans and maintains dish machine and equipment. Put dishes back in designated areas. Assists in cleaning kitchen--including cleaning counters, sweeping, and mopping the floors. Ensures proper garbage and trash disposal and removal. Assists with kitchen preparation, if applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Ensuring the availability of clean dishes by bussing tables, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance and hygiene that include clean clothes, nails and hair and no heavy perfumes/colognes. Wear non-slip shoes at all times.
  • Set up dish sink and sanitizer to specifications of product and health dept.
  • Checks and understand PH levels.
  • Monitors dishwashing machine to ensure proper operation; adjusts for water and soap.
  • Informs chefs when levels of supplies are low and when equipment is not working properly.
  • Maintains/cleans dish machine and auxiliary equipment.
  • Fills lines with necessary utensils or dishes.
  • Assists in cleaning kitchen and specific equipment: smokers, rotisserie, speed racks, metro shelves, etc.
  • Ensures proper garbage and trash removal; cleans trash containers.
  • Maintains surrounding garbage area.
  • Inform chefs when new trash cans are needed.
  • Maintain proper garbage disposal; understand compost/recycling/trash guidelines.
  • Hourly sweeping floors at hot line, prep and salad stations
  • Checks bathrooms for cleanliness, maintains stock of toilet paper and paper towels.
  • Stock paper towels and soap dispensers at all handwashing sinks.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of dry stock/walk-in(s). Help with consolidation of products.
  • Works with shipping and receiving in stocking / organizing and labeling all deliveries.
  • Assist in the kitchen prepping, if able and available.
  • Preparing dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cook stations.
  • Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, pans, mixers, etc.
  • Unloading and storing deliveries.
  • Sweeping and mopping floors, especially in the event that items are broken or spilled.
  • Taking out the trash and rinsing garbage cans.
  • Supporting other restaurant staff members by assisting with other tasks, as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

While performing the duties of this job, the position is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time (8 to 10 hours per day).
