We are currently seeking a Mechanical 3D Modeling Designer to add to our growing team.

Position Summary & Objective

The Mechanical 3D Modeling Designer is responsible for developing detailed mechanical designs for custom HVAC equipment using Autodesk Inventor. This role creates accurate, production-ready 3D models and drawings that translate engineering requirements into manufacturable designs. Responsibilities include designing ductwork systems based on airflow requirements, integrating HVAC components, and supporting collaboration between engineering and production to ensure efficient and effective fabrication of custom units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D models and mechanical designs for custom HVAC equipment using Autodesk Inventor
  • Design, route, and size ductwork based on airflow requirements and project specifications
  • Select and integrate HVAC components (e.g., compressors, coils, fans) into system designs
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and production teams to resolve design challenges
  • Review and incorporate design revisions and redlines
  • Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for each project
  • Produce detailed drawings for ductwork, accessories, and system components
  • Utilize technical references, standards, and design guidelines during development
  • Maintain organized electronic drawing files using Vault or similar systems
  • Prepare design variations and custom configurations based on project needs
  • Communicate design concepts clearly to internal teams, customers, and fabrication partners

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within HVAC or a related industry
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (required)
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and equipment layout
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, and basic electrical drawings
  • Familiarity with airflow calculations and ductwork design principles
  • Experience with component selection (compressors, coils, fans) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and attention to detail skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Primarily office-based with regular interaction within a manufacturing and production environment
  • Prolonged periods of computer use, including detailed design work in CAD systems
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and maintain focus on technical tasks
  • Occasional standing, walking, and access to the production floor to review equipment and designs
