For 40 years, Aurora has been a leader in providing customized services that support individuals with disabilities, chronic mental illness, and traumatic brain injuries in residential settings. Position Summary: This position exists to provide team-building leadership, motivational mentorship, and delivery of consistent and quality services to people with disabilities, guardians, and contracting agency.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Seek out opportunities for community/social integration
  • Help consumers plan and prepare their choices of fun events and outings
  • Assisting with self care- dressing, bathing or showering, brushing teeth, toileting, shaving
  • Medication Administration
  • Meal Preparation/Planning
  • Transportation of consumers
  • Follow individual service plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Assisting with Self Care
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Head-to-toe bathing or showering, applying lotion to skin
  • Scheduled toileting, incontinence care and clean up
  • Assisting with G-tubes, catheters, and colostomy bags
  • Brushing/styling hair, applying makeup
  • Brushing teeth/denture care
  • Shaving
  • Clipping nails
  • Transferring and repositioning with gait belts, Hoyer lifts, sit-to-stands, and other devices and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough onsite training with new team members that demonstrates accurate procedures
  • Guide staff to empower consumers and promote independence
  • Provide productive feedback that aids in staff education and strengthens morale
  • Professionally and effectively communicate through emails, documentation, reporting, and guardian/case management correspondence
  • Enforce safety procedures and adherence to individual service plans
  • Utilize problem resolution procedure to minimize conflict
  • Help staff access stress management resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Functions/Requirements:
  • 18 years of age
  • Acceptable Background Character Verification
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record for consumer transport
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to twist, turn, squat, bend, reach, pull, push from high/low position, raise arms above shoulder, walk, sit (chair and floor), climb stairs, and use hands and fingers
  • Communicate basic English
  • Basic reading, writing, and internet navigation skills
  • Experience with adults with disabilities
