Job Title: Health Information Management (HIM) Technician
Industry: Healthcare

Assignment Type: Long-Term Contract
Pay: $18 - $21 / hour
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday with flexible start times of 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 8:30 AM. Training will likely take place during earlier morning hours.

Job Description:
We are seeking detail-oriented Health Information Management (HIM) Technicians to support high-volume medical records projects. This role will focus on converting paper records into electronic formats, indexing documents, performing quality reviews, and maintaining accurate patient information within electronic records systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and have previous experience with healthcare documentation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Scan and upload medical records and other healthcare-related documents into electronic systems.
  • Accurately categorize and index patient records to ensure proper organization and retrieval.
  • Review scanned documents for quality, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Verify document placement and maintain data integrity within electronic record systems.
  • Enter and validate patient and document information as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with HIM staff and other departments to support project timelines and workload demands.
  • Assist with backlog reduction efforts and other department initiatives.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and upkeep of scanning equipment, reporting issues when necessary.

Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of recent experience in medical record scanning and indexing-required.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or Health Information Management department strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical record documentation and healthcare document types.
  • Experience using Epic required.
  • Experience with OnBase is highly desirable.
  • Strong computer and technical skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Reliable attendance history and strong professional references preferred.
  • High school diploma required and must be verifiable during the onboarding process.
