Job description

Job Objective:
Organized and proactive Project Manager to serve as the key liaison between Accounting and IT. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and tracking cross-functional projects that involve financial systems, data integrations, and process improvements.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of accounting processes, a working knowledge of IT systems, and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage projects that span Accounting and IT, ensuring alignment on scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Act as the primary liaison between Accounting, IT, and other business stakeholders
  • Establish and enforce project governance frameworks, including standardized methodologies, templates, and best practices
  • Define project scope, objectives, and success criteria in partnership with stakeholders and leadership
  • Create and manage integrated project schedules, including dependencies across Accounting and IT workstreams
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, status reports, and dashboards
  • Monitor project budgets, track actuals vs. forecasts, and report on variances
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, and proactively drive resolution
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, status updates, and stakeholder communications
  • Drive requirements gathering sessions and document business, functional, and technical requirements
  • Translate accounting requirements into clear functional specifications for IT teams
  • Partner with IT to prioritize system enhancements, defect resolution, and backlog management
  • Coordinate system implementations, upgrades, and integrations involving financial platforms
  • Coordinate data migration, validation, and reconciliation efforts during system implementations or transitions
  • Ensure data integrity and process consistency across systems
  • Ensure proper documentation of system changes, workflows, and controls for audit and compliance purposes
  • Lead change management initiatives, including stakeholder impact assessments, communication plans, and training coordination
  • Support change management, including documentation, training, and adoption efforts
  • Develop and present executive-level reporting, including KPIs, project health dashboards, and status summaries
  • Implement and track project performance metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement
  • Support post-implementation reviews to evaluate project success and identify lessons learned
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Accounting and IT processes, leveraging automation and system capabilities
  • Mentor and support team members or junior project managers as applicable

Qualifications:
  • Ten (10) years minimum of project management experience, preferably in finance/accounting or IT-related initiatives
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes (e.g., close cycle, reporting, controls)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software integrations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Azure Dev Ops, or similar).

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in accounting, finance, information systems, or related field.
  • Preferred Master's Degree in accounting, finance, or business.
