Job description

Job Objective:
Hilcorp Alaska has a wide range of operations throughout Alaska. In the Cook Inlet region Hilcorp operates numerous oil & gas fields, offshore platforms, and related logistical infrastructure of a regulated and non-regulated nature. Hilcorp supplies roughly 90% of all the natural gas used to power Southcentral Alaska and is the largest operator of regulated gas storage facilities. On the Alaska North Slope Hilcorp is the largest oil & gas operator. In both mature basins, Hilcorp has achieved its current footprint through a series of bolt-on acquisitions. The vastness of operations, and lack of connectedness, presents Hilcorp with many opportunities for expanding or optimizing commercial business outcomes. Improving business outcomes can come in the form of new business lines, more systematic and efficient fuel and power procurement, or increased 3rd party usage of valuable oil & gas infrastructure. Hilcorp Marketing also manages a fleet of Jones Act oil tankers that transport oil to market. Across the Cook Inlet, North Slope, and Marine fleet, the Business Development Advisor will evaluate and network business opportunities and then convert winning opportunities into value enhancement for Hilcorp.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Keep abreast of market trends and regulatory changes impacting Hilcorp business in Alaska.
  • Through understanding market trends/regulatory changes, Hilcorp assets, and Hilcorp strengths, independently identify opportunities to grow, expand or optimize Hilcorp business.
  • Work with ATL's and asset teams to identify opportunities for improving financial performance of the assets through commercial arrangements or business development programs.
  • Build bespoke financial models, applying Hilcorp key financial metrics, to support business opportunities
  • Using pragmatic analysis, evaluate opportunities for business expansion or optimization, presenting business cases to leadership for review and approval.
  • Develop relationships with external counter parties to evaluate and develop business opportunities.
  • Assist is the negotiation of contracts and various commercial arrangements.
  • Provide analytical support to the marine business in support of strategic decision making and performance management.
  • Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Supports company vision and mission.
  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Uses good discretion and judgement to manage sensitive information simultaneously across a variety of counter-parties and stakeholders.
  • Assist the Marketing Department with development, compilation and analysis of monthly performance reporting and long-term strategy.
  • Assist the VP Marketing with development of annual plans and budgets.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years minimum experience in the upstream segment of the oil & gas industry.
  • Midstream industry experience a plus.
  • Ability to quickly assess problems and provide accurate and timely solutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities over long periods of time.
  • Good communication (written and verbal), administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build financial and discounted cash flow models from scratch a plus.
  • Ability to interpret complicated agreements and regulations and apply findings.
  • Proficiency in the use of the following software:
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook).
  • Ability to make independent, rational decisions, as required.
  • Ability to work alone and highly motivated.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
