Job description

Job Objective:
Serves as the Waste Subject Matter Expert for Hilcorp Alaska assets and operations. Coordinates and manages contaminated sites, waste management efforts, secure permits and manage compliance efforts. Helps develop and promote environmental management systems, policies, procedures, and programs.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a contaminated sites and waste management subject matter expert for Hilcorp Alaska.
  • Must demonstrate deep understanding and application of state and federal contaminated sites, waste and chemical management regulations, e.g., DOT, UIC, RCRA, TSCA and EPCRA, as well as ADEC Contaminated Sites and Solid Waste Programs and AOGCC regulations.
  • Files and maintains all monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports associated with permits and environmental projects.
  • Develops and maintains strategies for contaminated sites management and cleanup.
  • Develop strategies for segregation, storage, sampling, labeling, treatment, manifesting, transportation, and disposal of waste from Hilcorp operations.
  • Develop and implement tactics to accomplish the strategies.
  • Perform and manage a variety of efforts at multiple facilities, fields, and operating areas to maintain compliance with waste management statutes, regulations, ordinances, and other legal requirements.
  • Solicit, retain, and manage contractors to assist with permitting and compliance efforts.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor budgets and project plans associated with managing contaminated sites, and waste permitting and compliance efforts.
  • Coordinate permitting and compliance with internal clients and environmental specialists who support them.
  • Serve as liaison to government agencies who regulate and manage contaminated sites and waste management programs.
  • Track regulatory changes associated with contaminated sites and waste management and communicate to field operations.
  • Train office and field personnel in contaminated sites and waste management requirements and procedures.
  • Assists with and performs internal and regulatory agencies audits and inspections.
  • Coordinates and conducts environmental training programs at field level meetings.
  • Serve in the Hilcorp Incident Command System.
  • Assists EHS department with risk management programs.
  • Assists in maintaining the company's environmental files and programs.
  • Assists the Environmental Manager with due diligence associated with acquisitions.
  • Support the company vision and mission.
  • Adhere to the company values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Adhere to an established work schedule and attendance standards.

Other Job Responsibilities:
  • Other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • Five (5) + years minimum regulatory and environmental oil and gas experience, preferably in Alaska.
  • Five (5) + years minimum contaminated sites, waste and UIC experience with both Federal and State waste programs, preferably Alaska.
  • Experience with Hilcorp Alaska facilities and personnel preferred.
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in data management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, agency personnel, and the public.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ability to learn other IT tools quickly.
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to fly in commercial and small planes, and helicopters, perform work at heights, perform work in remote locations overnight.

Education Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
  • Preferred: Degree Specialization in Environmental Sciences or Engineering.
