Senior Mechanical Project Manager - Data Centers

About Highland Consulting Group

Highland Consulting Group is a national executive search firm focused on placing top construction and MEP talent. With 75+ years of combined industry experience, we partner closely with contractors and owners to create long-term matches that work for both the professional and the employer.

The Opportunity

Iโ€™m partnering with a highly respected mechanical contractor in the Lima, Ohio area to identify a Senior Mechanical Project Manager with strong experience delivering mechanical piping, plumbing, and HVAC/sheet metal work. Youโ€™ll lead large, high-profile projects typically $15M+ across commercial, institutional, data center, light industrial, and public sectors throughout Ohio. If youโ€™re energized by complex builds, accountable leadership, and being rewarded for performance, this role offers the platform and support to do your best work. This contractor is known for professionalism, an excellent local reputation, and practical technology adoption that helps teams execute efficiently.

What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Oversee and manage all phases of assigned projects from award through closeout.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents.
  • Partner with project schedulers to build and maintain executable schedules and hit milestone dates.
  • Estimate, price, and negotiate change orders; maintain complete and accurate change-order logs.
  • Own project financial budgets, cost-to-complete, forecasting, and approval of project expenses.
  • Administer project contracts and subcontracts; ensure compliance with scope, terms, and documentation requirements.
  • Oversee subcontract and equipment buyout, procurement, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain proactive communication with owners and stakeholders to align goals, expectations, and risk items.
  • Ensure accurate project records and manage close-out documentation.
  • Lead punch-list planning and inspections with the superintendent and ownerโ€™s representative; issue punch lists and drive timely completion.
  • Build relationships with past clients to support repeat business and referrals.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Project Manager delivering commercial, institutional, or government work (typically $10M+ budgets).
  • Proven ability to lead project teams with strong command of project controls, documentation, and financial management.
  • Track record of building schedules, protecting milestones, and managing budget.
  • Experience estimating, negotiating, and documenting change orders.
  • Strong communication and organization skills; able to run productive cross-functional meetings and manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated career stability and a history of successful project delivery.

Compensation & Benefits

This contractor invests in its people and their families, and offers a strong total rewards package, including:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Generous bonus opportunity
  • 401(k) contributions and profit sharing
  • Comprehensive family healthcare
  • Car allowance
  • Relocation assistance (as needed)
