Your Opportunity
Stantec is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Civil Aviation Project Manager to join our innovative Airport practice. You'll have the flexibility to work from any of our offices in Nashville, Chattanooga, or Knoxville, Tennessee, or Lexington or Louisville, Kentucky. In this role, you'll take the lead on designing and delivering airside and landside infrastructure projects for commercial and general aviation airports across the region.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as an engineer of record and team lead on aviation related projects.
  • Prepare reports, develop project design elements including technical reports, calculations, plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Coordinate and direct efforts of technical staff to develop high-quality deliverables.
  • Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Mentor junior staff in technical design elements and the development of project documents.
  • Correspond with clients, attending and participating in airport authority meetings, and providing guidance to Airport Managers, Airport Authorities, or Client Engineering Staff to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.
  • Oversee and/or prepare grant administration paperwork for the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) Airport Improvement Program (AIP), as well as State grant administration.
  • Oversee all aspects of construction engineering administration including oversight of Resident Inspectors, shop drawing approvals, and contractor coordination.
  • Travel to other Stantec offices for team collaboration, as required.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong communicator and creative problem solver with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident presenting technical information to all levels of leadership.
  • In-depth understanding of FAA design standards and specifications.
  • Proven success managing innovative aviation projects and programs.
  • Inspiring team leader who brings together engineers, specialists, and contractors for seamless project delivery.
  • Skilled in balancing technical excellence with budget, schedule, and client expectations.
  • Hands-on experience in project budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering design software such as MicroStation (with ORD) or AutoCAD (with Civil 3D)-MicroStation preferred.
  • Experience with AeroTurn, hydrology, and stormwater modeling software a plus.
  • Construction administration/field observation experience preferred.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license; ability to obtain an airside security badge required for certain projects.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Kentucky and/or Tennessee required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in airport or aviation-related civil engineering.
  • Position is primarily office-based, with occasional field work as needed.
  • Requires limited regional travel for site visits and client meetings, with opportunities for extended travel for those seeking broader project experiences.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
