POSITION SUMMARY:

Civil Fence Crew Leader is a position that requires extensive experience and knowledge in security fence installation, and final restoration of cell tower sites within the wireless communications industry.  This position leads a crew of two or more people and performs various tasks in civil construction. The Civil Fence Crew Leader is ultimately responsible and accountable for the work completed by the entire crew safely, on time, and to specification.  The Civil Fence Crew Leader reports directly to the Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be proficient in all the “ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES” of Civil Installer and Civil Right-Hand and the below listed items:

  • Obey all company standards, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude that reflects Heartland Solutions Corp’s mission and standards
  • Provide leadership and management to field personnel to ensure that the mission and core values of Heartland Solutions are adhered to and put into practice
  • Ensure crew members obey all company standards, policies and procedures
  • Lead a fence installation crew on multiple cell tower sites across multiple projects
  • Complete final clean up to specification on projects and prepare each site for customer & jurisdiction inspections
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and site readiness
  • Teach skills and provide direction to crew members that will help them perform their job safely and efficiently and ultimately be better members of the Heartland Team
  • Lead daily JSA and Safety meetings with the people who are working under them
  • Inspect your Personal Protective and Safety Equipment, as well as the members of your teams daily
  • Delegate tasks to crew members and hold them accountable to complete them
  • Supervise the crew in performing all necessary work to complete the installation in a safe, timely, professional and quality manner
  • Take responsibility for the entire crew and their behavior while working with you
  • Responsible for truck, trailer and all company equipment and material assigned to you
  • Responsible for keeping accurate and complete records of the crew’s time and expenses for each site
  • Assure that all required information, photos, reports, and testing is completed for each closeout prior to leaving the site
  • Deliver daily reports and site progress updates to Project Management Team and any others they may so designate
  • Complete and submit to Project Management Team for review all required paperwork, documentation, test reports and any other items requested within the specified timeframe and before leaving the site
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to project management team
  • Lead others by example
  • The Civil Crew Leader may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested by the senior management of the company, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to effectively read, interpret and utilize technical documentation and literature such as construction drawings, sites plans, and other industry-related documents

  • Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Positively motivate crew members and keep moral high while working
  • Must obtain an independent work style and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented
  • Ability to multi-task while on various job sites and projects
  • Proficiently operate equipment such as skid steers, augers and post drivers
  • Previous experience as a crew leader or foreman
  • Previous experience within telecom or utility construction
  • Strong knowledge & experience with hand & power tools, equipment and installation methods
  • Knowledge & experience of successfully planting trees & shrubs
WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Frequently working outside 52 weeks per year in different parts of the country, different climates, different conditions that include: inclement weather, cold, heat and humidity, exposure to dirt, dust, asphalt, gravel, etc.
  • Frequently working near moving mechanical parts
  • Noise level is generally loud while working in the field around machinery
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, intermediate vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move 75+ pounds
  • Ability to move and/or carry equipment up to 50 pounds up/down steps and ladders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)

Must meet all the “MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)” of Civil Installer and Civil Right-Hand and the below listed items:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of fence construction experience including chain link, privacy fence and vinyl fence
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent
  • CDL Class A with air brake endorsement is preferred
  • Knowledge & experience of basic computer operation (including Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Required training:
    • OSHA 30
OTHER REQUIRMENTS:
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must have your own basic hand tools
  • Must be self-motivated and able to learn quickly
  • Must be willing to travel frequently and when required
  • Must be local, willing to relocate to this area
  • Must hold a valid unrestricted driver’s license and be insurable by Heartland’s insurance provider
  • Willing to work long hours, weekends, non-structured schedule, etc.
  • DOT Certification (DOT physical)
