Job Description
Under the guidance and supervision of the Vice President of Operations, the Healthy Living Director will develop and direct activities related to member/community health, wellness initiatives and engagement. By developing and implementing high quality, member-focused YMCA health, fitness and wellness programs the Healthy Living Director will ensure members are supported at the Y through initial onboarding, ongoing engagement, connection efforts, and program delivery.
Qualifications
  • Two to three years related experience in customer focused and/or relationship-based environment
  • Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent knowledge of health, fitness and nutrition preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPPA standards and compliance
  • Completion of health and wellness certifications
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication and computer skills
  • Must possess the leadership skills necessary to carry out established and essential job functions
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Required certifications upon hire: CPR, First Aid, AED, Child Abuse Prevention

Essential Functions
  • Develop, organize, lead and implement high quality, member focused YMCA health, fitness and wellness programs and services including, but not limited to, Adult Group Fitness, Personal Training, Y Active Adults and chronic disease prevention.
  • Promote the Y through internal and external collaborative relationships and activities by coordinating and participating in community events and initiatives.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; coordinating Personal Training, overseeing member orientations as part of the YMCA's member onboarding process, maintaining cleanliness of the Wellness Center and assisting in preventative maintenance of the equipment.
  • In collaboration with the Membership Director, develop then implement strategies and programming to ensure engagement, support and retention of new and existing members.
  • Develop new programs and services within the Y and the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans and changing community needs.
  • Develop and foster relationships with community partners such as local doctor offices, hospitals, local township officials on health initiatives, etc., that support the healthy living and chronic disease prevention in our community
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Compile program data and statistics. Monitor, evaluate and report participation and results of the programs.
  • Maintain a visual presence within programming to facilitate communication with members, participants and staff.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information and oversee program registrations.
  • Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Act as an intricate member of the leadership team, working towards the overall success of the organization with a goal of increasing membership growth, satisfaction and retention
