About this Role - Safety & Health Representative
We are looking for a talented Safety & Health Representative who has a passion for quality construction. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and occupational health component of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments to achieve safety effectiveness for the Utility Division. Assist regional Safety representatives, Project Managers, Project Superintendents and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practices and conditions.
What You'll Do
  • Assists with new hire general safety orientation
  • Coordinates, conducts and documents safety meetings and on-site safety audits
  • Assists top management in preparing safety policies and procedures; provides support in implementing these policies and procedures
  • Ensures that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed
  • Works with the Safety Department and ensures that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met
  • Monitors activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment
  • Provides safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees.
  • Provides feedback to encourage learning
  • Promotes proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions
  • Integrates safety into project plans by establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures
  • Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement
  • Works with the VP's, Operations Managers, Project Managers, Superintendents and Field Safety & Health Coordinators to develop, implement and monitor annual comprehensive Safety Plans
  • Assists and documents Utility Division incident investigations to include a detailed RCA, sharing of lessons learned, communicating next steps and tracking associated action items
  • Monitors safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety and DOT improvement
  • Extensive travel is required

What You'll Bring
  • Working knowledge of 29 CFR OSHA 1926 Construction Industry Regulations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills
  • Bachelor's Degree Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management preferred, or related field equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 1-3 years of construction safety experience
