The Manager - Epic Ambulatory Clinical Applications is responsible for the operational leadership, oversight, andÂ
optimization of Epic outpatient clinical applications across the organization. This role ensures that Epic outpatientÂ
systems are stable, efficient, and aligned with clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, patient safetyÂ
standards, and organizational priorities. The Manager provides direct leadership to Epic Ambulatory applicationÂ
analysts and serves as the primary liaison between clinical leaders, information technology, Epic, andÂ
organizational governance structures. This role plays a critical part in translating clinical and operational needsÂ
into sustainable Epic build, standards, and support models.

- 5 years of experience supporting Epic or other EHR clinical applications, with a strong focus onÂ
outpatient workflows, required. - 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in in application support, informatics, or ITÂ
operations, required. - 1 year of experience supporting Epic in a multi hospital or health system environment, preferred.
- 1 year of experience working with clinical leadership and governance structures, preferred.
- 1 year of experience participating in Epic or enterprise EHR implementations, major upgrades,Â
or optimization initiatives, preferred. - Bachelor's degree in health informatics, clinical informatics, information services, or related field, required.
- Epic certification or ability to attain Epic certification in assigned module(s) within a define timeframe determined at time of hire.
As part of our selection process, candidates being considered for this position will be required to complete a Sphinx Assessment, which is used to evaluate job-related competencies and determine overall suitability for the role. Successful completion of the assessment is a required component of the hiring process.
This position also requires active participation in various phases of the Epic application lifecycle, including but not limited to implementation, go-live support, stabilization, optimization, and system upgrades. Candidates must be willing and able to accommodate the demands associated with these activities, which may include:
- Working additional hours outside of regularly scheduled business hours, including evenings and weekends, as project needs dictate.
- Participating in on-site go-live and support activities across multiple organizational locations.
- Traveling occasionally for Epic training, certification, project meetings, or other work-related purposes, including travel outside of the state.
- Traveling between organizational facilities to provide operational, project, and end-user support.
Candidates should be prepared to maintain flexibility in their schedules to support critical project milestones and organizational operational needs.
- Â Provides day-to-day leadership and direction for Epic Ambulatory application support, maintenance, and optimization activities. Manages and prioritizes analyst workloads to ensure timely resolution of issues, enhancements, and requests. Ensures stability, performance, and ongoing support of Epic ambulatory/outpatient applications in a live production environment. Maintains accountability for application uptime, issue resolution, and release readiness.Â
- Directly manages Epic application analysts, including performance management, coaching, skill development, and workload planning. Ensures analysts maintain required Epic certifications and proficiency standards. Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the application team.Â
- Oversees the design, build, testing, and implementation of Epic ambulatory enhancements and newÂ
functionality. Reviews and approves application build to ensure adherence to Epic best practices,Â
organizational standards, and patient safety requirements. Coordinates testing activities for upgrades,Â
enhancements, and regulatory changes. Partners with Epic leadership to support system upgrades,Â
foundation initiatives, and future deployments. - Serves as the primary Epic Ambulatory application point of contact for nursing leadership, providers,Â
operations, and clinical informatics. Partners with clinical stakeholders to evaluate workflow needs, assess system impact, and recommend standardized solutions. Supports change adoption by ensuring Epic solutions align with real world outpatient clinical workflows. -  Participates in Epic governance structures, including change control, prioritization, and clinical councils. Ensures consistent application standards across outpatient departments and facilities. Supports regulatory and accreditation requirements related to clinical documentation, patient safety, and system controls. Identifies and escalates clinical or system risks related to Epic ambulatory functionality.Â
- Works closely with Epic Technical Services, internal IT teams, and third-party vendors as needed.Â
Collaborates with other Epic Application Managers to ensure cross application alignment and integration. Serves as an escalation point for outpatient application issues that require enterprise level resolution. - Maintains responsibility for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.Â
- Manages team members, which includes orientation, development and evaluation of team members, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Â Participates in the recruiting, interviewing, and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates team member's performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.Â
- Maintains responsibility for the fiscal management of department and assures proper utilization ofÂ
organization's financial resources. - Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.Â
- Assists in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
