The Head Coach is the fitness leader of the studio, responsible for driving excellence in coaching performance, member experience, coach development, and operational execution on the fitness side of the business. This role leads by example through exceptional class delivery, mentorship, accountability, and collaboration with studio leadership to create a best-in-class member experience that drives retention, engagement, and studio growth.

Key Responsibilities
Coaching Excellence & Class Delivery
  • Deliver high-energy, results-driven Orangetheory classes that provide an exceptional member experience
  • Ensure all classes are coached safely, effectively, and in alignment with Orangetheory programming standards
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of exercise science, movement patterns, modifications, and member safety
  • Create an inclusive, motivating environment that challenges members at all fitness levels
  • Consistently elevate class energy, engagement, and coach presence on the mic

Coach Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop all coaching staff to ensure consistency and excellence
  • Conduct regular coach observations, feedback sessions, and performance coaching
  • Support onboarding and training of new coaches, ensuring confidence in class delivery and brand standards
  • Identify coaching performance gaps and implement development plans
  • Foster accountability while building a strong, collaborative coaching culture

Member Experience & Retention
  • Build meaningful relationships with members to increase connection, loyalty, and retention
  • Support member goal-setting conversations and fitness journey progress
  • Address member concerns related to coaching, class experience, and fitness support
  • Create memorable in-class experiences that drive attendance and long-term engagement
  • Reinforce member milestones, benchmark achievements, and fitness progress

Fitness Operations
  • Ensure all fitness-related studio standards are executed consistently
  • Oversee equipment readiness, workout floor presentation, and overall coaching environment
  • Maintain compliance with Orangetheory safety protocols and operational expectations
  • Ensure proper class transitions, timing, and flow for optimal member experience
  • Support implementation of benchmark events, specialty workouts, and fitness challenges

Cross-Functional Studio Leadership
  • Partner closely with the Studio Manager and Assistant Studio Manager to align studio goals
  • Collaborate with front desk teams to support retention, member engagement, and communication
  • Support studio events, challenges, and community-building initiatives
  • Act as the fitness leadership representative during leadership discussions and strategic planning

Performance Accountability
  • Hold coaches accountable to performance expectations, professionalism, and class standards
  • Monitor class quality, member feedback, attendance trends, and coaching consistency
  • Help drive member retention through exceptional coaching experiences
  • Lead by example in professionalism, urgency, reliability, and ownership

Role Summary
The Head Coach is responsible for leading the studios fitness experience through exceptional coaching, coach development, operational excellence, and member connection, ensuring every class reflects the energy, professionalism, and results-driven experience that defines Orangetheory Fitness.
Additionally, youll need to meet these requirements:
  • Hold and maintain a current fitness certification from an education company approved by Orangetheory Fitness
  • Be AED/CPR certified
