Is a head of higher than a manager?

In most organizational structures, a Head of Support is a senior leadership role that oversees multiple teams or departments, making it higher than a manager, who typically supervises individual teams or functions. What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Head of Support, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Head of Support, you need expertise in customer service management, strong leadership abilities, and experience with support operations, typically backed by a relevant degree and proven track record in support roles. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems, ticketing platforms like Zendesk or Salesforce Service Cloud, and data analytics tools is essential. By facilitating regular meetings and maintaining open communication channels, the Head Of Support ensures that customer insights lead to meaningful improvements across the organization, ultimately enhancing the overall customer experience.

You will inspire, coach, and develop a team of commercial professionals, creating a culture focused on accountability, growth, and customer success. You'll establish key performance indicators, support professional development, and align team priorities with strategic business objectives.
As a key member of the leadership team, you'll help define the direction of the Temperature & System Products business in the Americas. You'll work closely with global product management, industry leaders, industrial engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure our solutions meet evolving customer needs and market opportunities.
Partnering closely with Endress+Hauser Sales Centers throughout the Americas, you'll support market expansion initiatives, pricing strategies, forecasting efforts, and private-label business growth. Your leadership will help strengthen market presence while ensuring alignment across regional and global teams.
Which tasks will you perform?
You will:
  • Build a highly engaged and capable marketing organization
  • Create and execute strategies that deliver profitable growth
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and industry trends
  • Strengthen collaboration between production, product management, and sales organizations
  • Drivie accountability through meaningful KPIs and performance metrics
  • Support long-term business planning through forecasting and market intelligence

What do we expect from you?
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in process instrumentation, industrial automation, or technical sales
  • Proven ability to develop business strategies and lead commercial growth initiatives
  • Strong understanding of industrial process industries and customer applications

What can you expect from us?
  • Family-owned, highly committed global company with a sustainable vision of the future.
  • Lifelong learning encouraged by versatile training, tuition reimbursement, success coaching, and further education opportunities.
  • Comprehensive benefit package (to include medical, dental, vision) and 401(k) savings with company match.
  • Compensation is competitive and includes bonus opportunities.
  • Work-life balance encouraged through our 10 company-paid holidays, paid time off, paid parental leave, employee assistance programs (financial, mental, and physical health and wellbeing), and employee discounts.
  • Employees work in a safety-first, climate controlled, clean manufacturing facility with utilization of Lean practices and ergonomic workstations to enhance productivity and comfort.
