We don't like spending our days in meetings and we skip committees altogether. At Lemonade, there's no such thing as going over someone's head. We have zero tolerance for bureaucracy, office politics, and lean-back personalities.
As a Public Benefit Corporation and a certified B-Corp, we deliver environmental and social impact using our products and tech. Through our Giveback program, we partner with organizations such as the ACLU, New Story, The Humane Society, Malala Fund, American Red Cross, 360.org, charity: water, and dozens of others, and have donated millions towards reforestation, education, animal rights, LGBTQ+ causes, access to water, and more.

What you're applying for
We're searching for an outstanding Head of Business Development to lead efforts to drive revenue growth through Lemonade's partnerships channel by acquiring new distribution partners across all of our main product lines (Car, Pet, Renters, and Home Insurance).
This role is critical to scaling one of Lemonade's most ambitious growth channels and establishing us as the clear partner-of-choice in the insurance industry. You will work closely with our Head of Partnerships and other leadership stakeholders to define and execute our multi-year growth strategy. If you're a seasoned business development and partnerships leader with a proven track record of signing impactful deals, building new growth channels, and leading go-to-market, we'd love for you to join our team.
We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.
Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.
We believe two things matter for every leadership role at Lemonade: leadership that sets the bar for excellence, builds high performing teams, and holds them accountable, and strategy that thinks several years ahead and turns ambitious plans into reality. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.
In this role you'll
  • Lead and mentor a small but mighty team of BD managers, empowering them to identify, acquire, and launch new strategic distribution partners
  • Develop emerging growth channels, such as embedded partnerships in retail, software, finance, and employer benefits, turning nascent ideas into sustainable revenue streams
  • Collaborate with the Head of Partnerships, Director of Partner Management, and cross-functional leaders (Product, Engineering, Data) to evolve our partnerships strategy, develop competitive differentiators, and secure our position as a market leader
  • Cultivate and foster deep, strategic relationships with important brands and potential partners, representing Lemonade's vision at key industry tradeshows and conferences
  • Drive significant, measurable revenue growth by managing your team's sales pipeline, budget, resource allocation, and ensuring seamless cross-functional support
  • Define and obsessively track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the partnerships channel, using a data-driven approach to measure the success of initiatives and guide future investment

What you'll need
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and go-to-market, ideally within Insurance or Fintech space
  • 2-3+ years of experience managing and mentoring high-performing, efficient teams, with a proven ability to foster a strong team culture and high morale
  • A strong track record of delivering tangible, quantifiable results and consistently achieving ambitious growth targets
  • Expert ability to manage complex, multi-faceted partnership negotiations and lead initiatives from initial conception through to full delivery
  • Comfortable working with and influencing senior leaders (VP and C-level) both internally and externally
  • MBA or Advanced Degree, a plus
  • Ready to work in our Soho office 3 days per week
  • Enthusiasm about learning and adapting to the exciting world of AI - a commitment to exploring this field is a fundamental part of our culture

*Please note that we are unable to sponsor applicants for work visas
Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000 - $225,000 plus equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Our competitive total rewards package includes comprehensive health & wellness coverage, equity, a 401(k) plan with employer match, 20 paid vacation days, and parental leave.
