Job description

Position Purpose:
Maintain hatchery production running efficiently and well-organized while supervising Service Room employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Select Genetics, presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults and eggs to growers and companies across the world and has operations in eight US States.
The Service Room Supervisor:
• Oversees the Service Room employees to ensure they are performing their job to company standards;
• Calibrates and sets up the machines at the beginning of the day;
• Checks the medicine orders;
• Ensures the PSP and MCP machines are ready for use at the beginning of the day;
• Performs a quality control analysis on birds labeled as defective by the PSP or MCP machines;
• Assists in cleaning the medicine and Service Room;
• May repair the machines if capable.
The work requires the Service Room Supervisor to:
• Follow all of the company's rules and regulations for bio security, animal welfare and safety;
• Supervise up to 35 employees, leading and guiding them to successfully achieve the company's goal of hatching and transferring as many poults as possible;
• Successfully train employees to perform their job duties accurately and in a timely manner;
• Resolve conflicts between employees in a fair and effective way;
• Demonstrate good organization skills;
• Perform any of the jobs in the department as needed;
• Work around humidity, dust, chemicals and fumes and to lift more than 50 pounds frequently;
• Be willing to work an extended work day or additional days as needed.
• Follow the directives of the Hatchery Manager.
• Successfully train, lead, supervise and manage up to 40 employees, ensuring they are performing their job up to company standards;
• Complete quality control checks on poults;
• Assist with clean-up of medicine room and service room;
• Prepare and set up service room machines and medicine orders;
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
• Follow all company regulations pertaining to bio security, animal welfare and safety.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma is preferred;
  • Must be Eligable to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Prior experience with animals or in a hatchery is a Plus;
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role required;
  • Ability to communicate verbally and listening with others - Bilingual Spanish speaking ability desired;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment;
  • Ability to perform job duties while wearing Personal Protective Equipment required of the position.
