Job description

The IU Southeast Department of Athletics provides intercollegiate athletic opportunities for students at the NAIA level and in the River States Conference. Through these opportunities students achieve educational and personal fulfillment, life skills, character development and campus pride. The university is a member of the Indiana University system, located in New Albany Indiana, just 8 miles from downtown Louisville and competes athletically in the River States Conference. The program has made 2 NAIA World Series appearances in the last 4 years.

  • Is a relentless recruiter who understands the Southern Indiana and Louisville areas looking for best fits for a highly competitive NAIA baseball program.
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit and actively engages in ambitious fundraising goals and marketing initiatives that impact the program and the department.
  • Is visible within the community and does their best to drive interest on campus and the region.
  • Is committed to working camps to increase program visibility in the region and using those opportunities for recruiting possibilities.
General Responsibilities
  • Complies fully with all NAIA, applicable athletic conference, and Indiana University rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
  • Provides leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student athletes by counseling team members in academic, disciplinary, sportsmanship, and personal matters, as appropriate.
  • Develops a competitively successful team to represent Indiana University positively and responsibly. Provides student athletes the opportunity for a positive experience and climate in which to achieve their academic, athletic, and personal goals.
  • Performs recruiting duties by formulating a plan to incorporate coverage of all prospective student athletes and recruiting high-quality student-athletes that meet or exceed university qualifications.
  • Represents the team, department, and university in a positive, professional, and ethical manner; responds appropriately to media, marketing, fund-raising, and community service requests, as assigned. Exhibits professionalism in a manner consistent with the missions and goals of Indiana University, applicable athletic conference, and the NAIA.
  • Directs coaching staff, when applicable.
  • Maintains program budget.

EDUCATION
Required
  • Bachelor's degree.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
  • 4 years of coaching experience.
  • 1 year of management experience.
