Job description

We are looking for a meticulous EHS Manager to join our team.
 
As an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager, you will inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards.
 
This position requires a high profile, a visible environmental role with extensive experience to deal with the environmental challenges of operating a chemical manufacturing business. Your chief goal is to protect the employees, customers, and the environment by implementing policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Responsibilities: 
  • Serve as Hasa's EHS policy leader, using the visibility of the role, in collaboration with the Plant Site Leader, to ensure consistent application and interpretations of the environmental elements of Hasa EHS Policy and Implementing Principles.
  • Collaborate with internal departments as necessary to ensure that adequate controls and processes are in place to mitigate material environmental risks.
  • Inspects Hasa facilities assigned to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Manage compliance to all regulatory agency program requirements and participate in regulatory site audits.
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Develops and monitors compliance of health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
  • Prepare, schedule, train, and maintain files for training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Manages and tracks safety key performance indicators (Injury, training) utilizing appropriate software tools.
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of our employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Manage worker compensation claims through depositions, claim reviews, attorney meetings, and adjuster requests).
  • Ensure that adequate controls and processes are in place to mitigate material environmental risks.
  • Manage compliance to all regulatory agency program requirements and participate in regulatory site audits.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or similar preferred but not required.
  • OSHA or similar EHS certification.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience as an EHS coordinator or manager.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI.
  • The ability to read and interpret safety data sheets.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership and training abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
