Project Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:ย 
This positionย is responsible forย the following: Other duties may be assigned.ย ย 
  1. Consideration of Gulf Copper departments and resources to meet project / contract requirements.ย 

  1. Approve purchases / expenditures related to projects / contracts.ย 

  1. Meet margin goals for projects.ย 

  1. Monitor expenditures against revenue for projects / contracts.ย 

  1. Develop andย monitorย project schedules.ย 

  1. Monitor customer satisfaction during and after project.ย 

  1. Create project work plans with input fromย the Productionย Department and revise asย required.ย 

  1. Identifyย resources needed and enlist or assign responsibilities to other team members.ย 

  1. Develop and disperse project budgets toย Productionย Department and toย Projectย Accounting group.ย 

  1. Hold and direct a pre-job meeting with project staff (Production and Accounting) to ensure understanding of scope and requirements for day-to-day management of projects.ย 

  1. Manage day-to-day operations of the project through production meetings or regular meetings dictated byย customer.ย 

  1. Investigate deviances in man/hour projections and revenue projections toย determineย cause (change in scope,ย poor performance, other) to minimize exposure or recognize source ofย additionalย revenue.ย 

  1. Perform an overall job analysis with Production and Estimating Departments to review performance andย establishย standards for future work.ย 

  1. Follow up withย customer onย satisfaction with project.ย 

Required Education & Experience:ย 

  1. Bachelorโ€™s degree inย business administration,ย Project Managementย orย commensurateย experienceย preferred.ย 

  1. Five to seven years Ship repair/fabrication experience preferred.ย 

Working Conditions:ย 

  1. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in anย office-controlledย environment.ย 

  1. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) may be involved.ย 

  1. May have to visit projects aboard ships, rigs both on and offshore as well as confined spaces.ย ย Must wear hearing, eye, headย protectionย and proper PPE whenย required.ย 

  1. Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over,ย crouching,ย and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.ย ย 

Necessary Equipment Operation:ย 

  1. Computer skills: MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)ย 

  1. Office equipment, including telephone, fax machine, scanner, computer, printer, etc.ย โ€‚โ€‚โ€‚โ€‚ย 

Special Skills:ย 

  1. Ability to understand and administer ABS Classification guidelines,ย NAVSEA,ย USCGย and SOLASย Requirements.ย ย 

  1. Must haveย demonstratedย abilityย to motivate employees and build a solid functioning team.ย ย ย 

  1. Ability to think ahead and plan over aย 1โ€“2-yearย time span.ย 

  1. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.ย 

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.ย 

  1. High performance andย a strongย team player.ย 

  1. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.ย
