About this position

Working directly with the COO and HR team, you will be working on key activities across the entire company- so this is the perfect opportunity for a jack of all trades who likes every day to be different! In this role, you will be known for being someone who is able to juggle multiple priorities all while creating a workplace where people love to come to work everyday.

Your primary tasks will include:

People & Culture:

  • Contributing to Makos great company culture and organizing team bonding activities.
  • Maintaining and applying already defined HR practices and processes for the entire company; ensuring that everyone is on board with them and abiding by them.
  • Partnering with managers on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and policy interpretation.
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, working closely with a recruiter and hiring managers.
  • Advising on strategic decisions that impact Mako and employees.
  • Supporting HR administration, including payroll coordination, promotions, benefits, onboarding, and offboarding.
  • Maintaining employee records, HR systems, and reporting to ensure accurate data and support decision-making.
  • Coordinating with external HR vendors and supporting compliance with applicable employment legislation.
  • Providing evidence related to human resource activities for internal and external SOC2 audits

Operations:

  • Collaborate with managers to develop reports and ensure compliance related to:
    • department forecasting and resource planning to accurately plan hiring needs
    • ongoing project reporting
    • employee time tracking
    • key data integrity reports to ensure reporting is accurate and complete
  • Book approved corporate travel
  • Other responsibilities as needed from time to time

About you

  • You enjoy developing trusting relationships with colleagues and being an advocate on employee issues
  • You can track, monitor and complete a wide variety of tasks with an excellent attention to detail
  • You like things in order, in place and complete and willing to hold colleagues accountable to achieve that
  • You are comfortable with a growing and dynamic company
  • Your written and spoken communication is clear and concise

Youve got:

  • Relevant undergraduate or professional education, with at least 2-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Understanding of HR best practices
  • Strong written and spoken English and French language skills
  • Strong analytical skills, in particular advanced Excel
  • Experience with HRIS or CRM systems
  • Previous experience starting or working at a startup or small business would be awesome
