Pre-Press / Graphics Specialist (Print Production amp; Packaging)
Location: Fond du Lac, WI (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
FLSA Status: Exempt
Please Note: This is NOT a Graphic Design position.
This role is focused on technical pre-press production, file preparation, print setup, proofing, and artwork management for packaging and print manufacturing applications.

Quality Packaging, Inc. (QPI) is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Pre-Press / Graphics Specialist to support our growing packaging and print production operations.
In this role, you will prepare and manage press-ready artwork files for offset, flexographic, and digital printing applications. You will serve as a critical link between customer artwork and production, ensuring files are accurate, compliant, and optimized for manufacturing.
The ideal candidate has strong Adobe Creative Suite experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate and troubleshoot print-related issues before they impact production.

Essential Responsibilities
Artwork Review amp; Pre-Press Production
  • Review customer-supplied artwork, images, and design files using Adobe Creative Suite software.
  • Evaluate files for print readiness and identify potential production concerns.
  • Prepare press-ready files for offset, flexographic, and digital (hybrid) printing applications.
  • Properly position and maintain native artwork files within QPI production layouts.
  • Utilize internal RIP software and print preparation tools to create production-ready files.
  • Ensure artwork complies with customer specifications and internal production requirements.
Proofing amp; Customer Approval Process
  • Generate artwork proofs for production jobs.
  • Send hard-copy and electronic PDF proofs to customers for review and approval.
  • Support art approval processes and maintain approval documentation.
  • Effectively communicate artwork revisions, corrections, and requirements to customers and internal teams.
Production amp; Project Support
  • Assist with artwork development for prototypes, samples, and package mockups.
  • Photograph samples and maintain image databases using Photoshop.
  • Upload, download, and manage large files through FTP platforms and digital file-sharing systems.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the Design Center project list.
  • Support production timelines by prioritizing multiple projects and responding quickly to changing customer needs.
Data Management amp; Documentation
  • Maintain and update QPI specification databases and pre-press tracking spreadsheets.
  • Ensure accuracy of artwork records, production files, and project documentation.
  • Follow established file management and version control procedures.
Safety amp; Team Collaboration
  • Follow and support all QPI safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with Design, Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Operations teams.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Education amp; Experience
  • Associate Degree in Graphic Design, Pre-Press Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in:
    • Pre-Press Production
    • Production Art
    • Print Graphics
    • Packaging Graphics
    • Commercial Printing Environments
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency with:
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
Additional qualifications:
  • Experience preparing files for commercial printing preferred.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software platforms and print technologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude related to layouts, dimensions, scaling, and print specifications.
