General Mechanic New Hire (Millwright)

The General Mechanic New Hire will play a key role in improving overall reliability and reducing unscheduled downtime which is critical to the success of the mill. This position requires analyzing and reporting the health of rotating process equipment to proactively identify component, equipment, and system issues. Our goal at Graphic Packaging is to continually employ the highest level of educated and thoroughly trained mechanics, this role is imperative to achieve that goal.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing analysis on rotating machines and overseeing monitoring
  • Detailed machine diagnosis of common machinery faults
  • Rotating equipment background with turbine and compressor experience as a plus
  • Being viewed and utilized as a resource (SME) in all areas of precision practices and work closely with peers, managers, and industry experts to ensure precision practices
  • Act as a QA/QC resource to ensure proper installation and repair of equipment
  • Work with other Department Learning Leader(s) to ensure that procedures and other training or reference documents are aligned with Precision Practices and kept current
  • Continued support using rotating machinery reliability experience
  • Participate in meetings for specking equipment and create new practices and training
  • Support new mechanic hires and participates in onboarding and assimilation
  • Maintain a stock of tools required to perform skill demonstration and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A genuine desire to take on role and willingness to stay in role for at least three (3) years
  • Clean discipline history and attendance record
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently during certification with ongoing occasional travel in support of other mills
  • Five (5) years of experience in mechanical maintenance, experienced in multi-craft maintenance and analysis preferred
  • Specific knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, vibration analysis and basic electrical repair, machine diagnosis of common machinery faults.
  • Prior millwright positions preferred
  • Prior training and certification in welding certification, vibration analysis, electrical/mechanical, bearing training, conveyor systems, pumps, fans, screening equipment, and conveying systems - preferred
  • Ability and willingness to work in widely varied environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and verbal communication skills addressing specific issues
  • Strong MS Office skills - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Working knowledge of OSHA
