Main Objective:
The Senior Manager, Medical Visualization & Realtime Graphics Engineering is responsible for defining the vision, roadmap, and operational excellence of a multidisciplinary organization delivering world-class 3D medical visualizations, animations, interactive software, and immersive AR/VR experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Set the long-term strategy, roadmap, and organizational structure for Medical Visualization and Realtime Graphics Engineering.
  • Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and performance metrics aligned with company objectives.
  • Leverage information and insights from Medical Visualization Operations to set direction for capacity planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and investment decisions.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, quality, scalability, and innovation.
  • Creative & Scientific Visualization Leadership
  • Provide strategic oversight for the creation of anatomically accurate, scientifically rigorous 3D illustrations, animations, and digital visual assets.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards for visual storytelling, rendering, design consistency, and brand alignment.
  • Partner with Product Management, Medical Education, Clinical Affairs, and Marketing to ensure scientific accuracy and commercial effectiveness.
  • Champion innovative visualization techniques and workflows that enhance customer education and engagement.
  • Realtime Graphics & Software Engineering Leadership
  • Provide leadership for software architecture standards, development best practices, and technical governance processes.
  • Support technology evaluation and adoption strategies for Unity, Unreal Engine, AR/VR platforms, cloud technologies, and future visualization solutions.
  • People Leadership & Talent Management
  • Build, lead, and inspire high-performing multidisciplinary teams across medical visualization, engineering, and interactive media.
  • Own talent strategy, including hiring, performance management, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration across global teams.
  • Operational Governance and Delivery
  • Hold accountability for portfolio outcomes, resourcing, budgets, and delivery timelines for visualization and real-time initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of scalable workflows, agile practices, and quality assurance processes.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership with clarity and accountability.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Medical Illustration, Biomedical Visualization, Animation, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in 3D visualization, digital content development, software engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience managing multidisciplinary creative and technical teams.
  • Experience developing organizational strategy, roadmaps, and managing departmental budgets preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
  • Expert knowledge of medical visualization pipelines, 3D graphics production, and visual communication.
  • Expert knowledge of medical and anatomical concepts for accurate content creation.
  • Experience in real-time graphics technologies, including Unity, Unreal Engine, and XR development.
  • Familiarity with AI/LLMs and integration of AI to improve development and content creation workflows.
  • Familiarity with Jira and applications within Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud Pro, Autodesk Media & Entertainment Collection, and Maxon One.
  • Familiarity with MRM and DAM solutions.
  • Strong understanding of the intersection of software development, computer graphics, visualization, animation, and automation technologies, with the ability to drive a unified technical vision.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into technical and creative execution strategies.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to effectively communicate vision, strategy, risks, and progress to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of organizational dynamics and the ability to leverage internal tools, teams, partnerships, stakeholders, and company resources to drive successful software initiatives.
  • Strong financial, operational, and project portfolio management capabilities.
