Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The person in this position performs professional graphic design and visual communications work to support City-wide marketing, branding, and public information initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and producing high-quality marketing materials, maintaining brand consistency across platforms, and serving as the City’s primary photographer and a key multimedia content creator. The Graphic Design Coordinator works collaboratively with City departments to visually communicate programs, services, events, and initiatives while ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and adherence to established branding standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Designs and produces marketing and promotional materials for City programs, services, initiatives, campaigns, and events, including print and digital media.
  • Develops graphics and visual content for job postings, City-wide promotions, public awareness campaigns, and special initiatives.
  • Ensures consistent application of the City’s brand identity, visual standards, and messaging across all communication platforms.
  • Serves as the City’s primary photographer, capturing images for official events, promotional projects, City leadership headshots, and workforce highlights.
  • Captures and edits video content for City meetings, concerts, events, and special projects to support public communication and outreach efforts.
  • Edits, retouches, and prepares photographs and video footage for use in marketing, communications, and archival purposes.
  • Assists with audio/visual setup and operation for City Council meetings, concerts, and other municipal functions as needed.
  • Collaborates with City departments to gather information, interpret communication needs, and develop effective visual solutions.
  • Maintains organized archives of marketing materials, photographs, and video assets for future use and reference.
  • Recommends and supports best practices, standards, and guidelines for graphic design and photography in alignment with the City’s brand and communication objectives.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field; two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in graphic design, visual communications, photography, or multimedia production; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
