Job description

Director/Liaison for BFMC Area Health Education Center (AHEC)

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is seeking an experienced Director/Liaison for the BFMC Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to play a key role in connecting students, educators, healthcare professionals, and community partners in Greenfield, MA.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director/Liaison for the BFMC Area Health Education Center helps to create meaningful educational and clinical experiences, expand opportunities for students from diverse and underserved backgrounds, and strengthen the healthcare workforce in rural and underserved communities. As the Director/Liaison, you will provide leadership for AHEC programs while serving as an important community connection for the Department of Family Medicine.

The BFMC AHEC is a regional center working in collaboration with the Mass AHEC Program Office at UMass Chan Medical School to coordinate AHEC activities throughout the Pioneer Valley.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the BFMC AHEC by providing overall leadership, management, and strategic direction for the center.
  • Manage the PURCH AHEC Scholars Grant Program, including program coordination, data collection, tracking, and required reporting.
  • Serve as the Department of Family Medicine community liaison, helping coordinate student and resident community experiences and clinical placements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, healthcare partners, students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with grant development and proposal submissions that support Department of Family Medicine initiatives.
  • Help develop and coordinate faculty development and continuing medical education (CME) programs.
  • Support initiatives that promote interprofessional education and collaborative healthcare teams.
  • Help expand access to healthcare education and career opportunities, particularly for students from minority, disadvantaged, rural, and underserved communities.
  • Connect healthcare professionals and community partners with continuing education resources and programs.

SCHEDULE:

  • Part-time, 32 hours a week

LOCATION:

  • Hybrid work opportunity- requires Tuesdays on-site in Greenfield, MA
  • Requires travel to Worcester, Springfield, & Greenfield
  • Candidate must live in MA or CT

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree, Required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience, required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of individuals and organizations.
  • Proficiency with word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to research funding opportunities and utilize online resources for grant reporting.
  • Experience with proposal writing and grant administration.
  • Experience working in healthcare education, community health, higher education, or a related field.
  • Experience developing programs or partnerships that serve diverse or underserved populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
