Job description

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Office Manager and Graduate Program Assistant (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will serve as the Office Manager and Graduate Program Director. To provide program and administrative support to the Department Chairman, graduate program directors and faculty members of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department for all clerical/administrative activities related to the office and graduate program management and operations. Supervise and coordinate the workload of support staff, including student workers   Required Education: Strong knowledge of customer service, problem resolution and management techniques for effective and successful departmental operations.   Required Qualifications:  Considerable knowledge of standard office software to include Microsoft Office Suite. Considerable knowledge of administrative policies and procedures. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated proofreading skills. Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments in a timely fashion while multi-tasking. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others. Demonstrated ability to work with the departments constituents, and to communicate in a multicultural environment. Considerable experience providing administrative support to a Department Chair or unit director level position. Some supervisory experience   Additional Considerations: Some experience working in a higher education environment. Some experience as an office manager.
