Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill 1-2 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) student employee Leadership Academy Communications Coordinator for the Leadership Academy program at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Leadership Academy Communications Coordinator is a key player in the continued success of the Leadership Academy. This is an outstanding opportunity to develop skills in marketing, recruitment, communication, event planning, website development, social media and more. The Leadership Academy Coordinator will have space in StrandAg 242 as needed and is able to work remotely if desired. Must be a in good academic standing to qualify.

The Undergraduate Student Outreach Assistant performs a variety of work related to outreach programs, including assistance at camps, youth programs, nutrition and education programs, and physical activity courses.

Position Duties:

  • Marketing: Manage Leadership Academy social media platforms including but not limited to IG, FB, Snap, and Geofencing; creating engaging content to promote and advertise our recruitment cycle and events; help advertise in other areas of the program (newsletters, TV screens, print articles, events.)

  • Communications: Design and coordinate communication journeys for multiple audiences who engage with the Leadership Academy including current student cohort; prospective students; mentors; and industry/agency stakeholders

  • Events: Represent the Leadership Academy at both College's (College of Agricultural Sciences and College of Forestry) tabling events; presentations to classes; fundraising campaigns; and end of year celebration banquet.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have experience working with marketing, communications, or related fields

  • Must be in good academic standing to qualify.

  • Graduate of Leadership Academy

  • Familiar with Leadership Academy and can represent it to prospective students

  • Experience in Agricultural and Natural Resources Communications

  • Experience in Canva and other design software
