American Leadership Academy - Johnston is now accepting applications for Teacher Assistants for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.


A Teacher Assistant supports the classroom teacher in delivering quality education to students. A Teacher Assistant will help with instructional activities, managing classroom behavior, and providing support to students as needed. Additionally, a Teacher Assistant may assist with administrative tasks and communication with parents, contributing to a collaborative and effective educational setting. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson planning and implementation. 
  • Reinforce learning concepts and provide additional assistance as needed. 
  • Help maintain a positive and orderly environment. 
  • Help administer tests and assessments; support the teacher in grading assignments and providing feedback. 
  • Observe and report on student progress, behavior, and engagement.
  • Support communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and any concerns. 
  • Help keep the classroom clean and organized, ensuring materials and supplies are readily available. 
  • Encourage student participation.  
  • Other duties as assigned.
