Job description

Job Title:  Substitute Teacher                                                             Wage/Hour Status:  Part-time
Reports to:  Campus Principal                                                           Pay Grade: Substitute Teacher Pay Scale

Primary Purpose:

Enables students to continue their education with minimal interruption in the absence of the regular classroom teacher
 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Completion of the Cleburne ISD Substitute Orientation Process
Interpersonal skills to work well
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Experience:
Some experience working with children
 










Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Support

  1. Reports to the building principal [school secretary] upon arrival at the school building.
  2. Reviews with the principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  3. Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the lesson plans as prepared by the absent teacher.
  4. Provides a written summary of work completed at the end of each teaching day and leaves it for the regular classroom teacher.
  5. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Student Management

  1. Maintains effective classroom management and supports the building-wide standards and policies for safety.
  2. Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  3. Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during teacher assigned locations and times.
