Technical Writer
The Opportunity:
Write and edit technical and program documentation, including user manuals, test plans and reports, and technical briefings. Collaborate with subject matter experts and analyze source materials to translate technical concepts and engineering data into easy-to-understand material for technical and non-technical audiences. Review, edit, and enhance existing documentation or content of user manuals, web pages, and other delivery media while maintaining version control. Apply relevant quality, regulatory standards, and best practices for readability. Work with direction on tasking and timelines, but without oversight while assisting and mentoring team members through the documentation editing and review process.
You Have:
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to pay strict attention to detail and maintain consistency in formatting, terminology, and style
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience writing and editing DoD documentation, technical publications, training materials, and proposal artifacts, or Master's degree and 3+ years of experience writing and editing DoD documentation, technical publications, training materials, and proposal artifacts

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with MIL-STD, government technical writing requirements, or similar controlled-documentation standards
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, logistics, and program management teams to ensure accuracy, configuration control, and timely updates to documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple publication projects and work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to learn Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat, and Microsoft Visio

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $55,300.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
