Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The Catholic Student Center at Washington University (CSC) is a house of formation and a community of hospitality for students of any or no faith. Our dream is that every student who encounters the Catholic Student Center Community is known, loved, and cared for. We will walk with them in the way of Christ to deepen their capacity for giving and receiving love and to grow into compassionate, courageous leaders. We want students to go into the world healthier, happier, and holier.

The Advancement Program Coordinator manages events and volunteers for CSC Friends (non-student community at the Catholic Student Center), coordinates the annual Newman gala, liaises for several events involving students, and assists CSC Friends in planning and executing spiritual, enrichment, and social events.

This position averages 20 hours per week annually. The workload fluctuates seasonally, requiring additional hours during peak periods, balanced by fewer hours in the summer. Flexibility in scheduling is important.

Job Responsibilities

Event Coordination

● Plan and organize the annual Newman gala fundraising event, including coordinating volunteers, soliciting auction items, and managing the event itself.

● Lead coordination and execution of events such as Speakers Series, Progressive Dinner, Volunteer Appreciation, Wine in the Garden, and other events for CSC Friends

● Oversee decoration of the CSC for events and seasons, including recruitment of volunteers.

● Coordinate hospitality for advancement and ministry events such as Alumni Reunion, Parents’ Weekend, and Welcome Back BBQ

Community Relations

● Serve as coordinator of the CSC Friends Board

● Act as primary social contact for CSC Friends

● Recruit and oversee volunteers for friends and student events, including Sunday Mass hospitality and parking

● Manage and participate in Stuffin’ and Stamping volunteer activities

● Work with the Director of Advancement to communicate with key donors and stakeholders.

● Foster relationships with CSC Friends Community to drive engagement

Job Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree

● Excellent communication skills

● Event planning experience

● Ability to recruit and coordinate volunteers to manage events for CSC Friends and Students

● Experience with, or knowledge of, Blackbaud, Canva, Givesmart and Constant Contact preferred

● Some fundraising experience

● Attention to detail

● Proficient in MS Office programs and Google suite

● Experience working both independently and in a collaborative environment

● Supports the mission and values of the Catholic Church
