Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware.
  • 5 years of experience managing technical, vendor, contract management, or delivery teams.

Preferred qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience executing strategic initiatives from conception through delivery within a global enterprise environment.
  • Experience working in data center environments, including building and operating infrastructure, and network and compute architecture and life cycle, and Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Ability to lead and improve Environmental Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

As a Hardware Operations Manager at Google, you will lead Data Center Technicians managing the physical infrastructure behind Google's search technology. Your team installs, configures, and maintains server hardware, Linux clusters, and complex networking components like routers and switches, overseeing high-level installations and troubleshooting.
In this role, you will manage critical initiatives across security, maintenance, and networking. Using data analytics, you will identify trends and drive improvements to tools and procedures. You will act as the primary escalation point for your sites, quantifying and resolving systemic issues. You will collaborate with Program Managers and Data Center Operations to provide strategic input on site planning, process changes, and task orders. Furthermore, you will manage projects to ensure they meet budget, timeline, and resource requirements, and resource needs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$200,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of teams within data center operations.
  • Communicate priorities and facilitate hand-off of operations to following shift leads.
  • Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture.
  • Manage the implementation of projects within the team.
  • Ensure data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives.
