We’re looking for a Catering Sous Chef to join our awesome Bon Appetit team at Google!

The Catering Sous Chef is responsible for shaping the culinary landscape of our events, overseeing all aspects of food quality, innovation, and the efficiency of service. This culinary leadership position requires a deep understanding of culinary techniques, a passion for creating exceptional dishes, and a strong ability to mentor and inspire a team.

On a daily basis, you will oversee a wide range of administrative and operational tasks such as monitoring food costs, labor costs, and overall budget adherence. In addition to these daily responsibilities, the Catering Sous Chef works closely with the Catering Chef de Cuisine to build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization driving operational excellence, enhancing the overall user experience, and ensuring the long‑term success of the culinary operation.

The great things you will do:
  • Manage workplace and food safety, including allergen management
  • Design, manage and own the overall experience, not just the offerings
  • Follow all menu and production/prep expectations and guides, opening/closing checklist and responsibility guides
  • Prepare well‑balanced meals to fuel users through the day
  • Set an expectation of hospitality that is friendly and engaging
  • Train and develop team members
  • Assist Catering Executive Chef in ensuring that all products and ingredients that are used are purchased following sector and Food purchasing standards and sustainability commitments
What we look for in a candidate:
  • Ability to drive and enhance a culture of Food and Workplace Safety
  • Degree in Culinary Arts preferred or equivalent professional experience
  • Has a minimum of 2 years kitchen supervisory experience or applicable culinary experience in a similar volume, quality food service establishment
  • Strong passion for great food and hospitality
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficient in computer and technical skills, working knowledge of Google Suite tools, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Managing in a Union Environment is a plus
  • ServSafe Certification
