Job description

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and revenue accounting (ASC 606) in a public accounting or multinational company setting.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
  • Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.
  • Ability to have attention-to-detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Excellent investigative skills and ability to communicate with executive management.

In this role, as a part of the Revenue and Accounting Management (RAM) Processes Team, this horizontal team is organized into distinct pillars supporting Revenue, Cost of Sales, Revenue Adjustments, and Expenses and Payments. Its primary focus is delivering key horizontal revenue recognition accounting data and services for Ads, YouTube, and Subscriptions monetization channels.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities
  • Design and oversee global accounting processes for advertising business growth, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and internal controls (i.e. contra-revenue, Operational Expenditure (OpEx), Cost of Sales, accrued liabilities and deferred-revenue and the related balance sheet reconciliations).
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to define and implement accounting systems and operational procedures that mitigate financial risk.
  • Leverage SQL and data analytics to drive process improvements, automate workflows, and provide quantitative insights for business decision-making.
  • Provide accounting guidance to sales and product teams on business models, agreements, and the operational components of new product launches.
  • Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and present financial results to management.
