Position Summary

The Golf Course Superintendent โ€“ Summit is responsible for the overall maintenance, conditioning, and presentation of the Summit Golf Course. This leadership role oversees turf management operations, staff, equipment, and agronomic planning to ensure high-quality playing conditions. The Superintendent plays a critical role in long-term turf health, resource management, budgeting, and team development while enhancing the overall guest experience.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and roughs

  • Develop and execute seasonal agronomic plans to support turf health and playability

  • Lead, hire, train, and schedule maintenance staff

  • Manage and maintain irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and pesticide regulations

  • Manage department budget, labor tracking, and equipment inventory

  • Coordinate with golf operations and resort leadership on events and course conditions

  • Monitor weather conditions and adjust maintenance plans accordingly

  • Maintain high standards of course presentation and playability


Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree or certificate in Agronomy, Turf Management, or related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent

  • Valid Michigan Pesticide Applicatorโ€™s License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)

  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and equipment
