Reports To: Head Golf Professional
Position Summary
Austin Country Club seeks a passionate, service-oriented, and detail-driven First Assistant Golf Professional to support the Head Golf Professional in delivering an exceptional, member-focused golf experience. This individual will play a key leadership role in daily golf operations, member engagement, instruction, merchandising, tournament administration, and associate development. The ideal candidate embraces Austin Country Club’s culture of excellence, builds authentic relationships with members, and demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Essential Responsibilities
Member Experience & Engagement
  • Deliver a welcoming, professional, and energetic presence in all member interactions.
  • Foster strong relationships with members across all segments of the Club.
  • Assist in planning and executing tournaments, leagues, clinics, and member programming.
  • Support onboarding of new members into golf activities and Club traditions.
  • Ensure a high-touch, organized, and seamless golf experience daily.
Golf Operations
  • Assist in oversight of tee sheet management, pace of play, and daily play coordination.
  • Supervise outside operations, cart staging, practice facilities, and first tee presentation.
  • Enforce Club policies and maintain professional standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent and Golf Shop team to communicate course conditions and updates.
  • Support accurate score posting and handicap administration.
Instruction & Player Development
  • Provide private and group instruction to members of all skill levels.
  • Assist in developing junior golf programming and camps.
  • Help expand ladies’ and men’s programming to enhance participation and engagement.
  • Promote player development opportunities that grow the game within the Club.
Merchandising & Retail Operations
  • Assist in merchandising strategy and visual presentation of the Golf Shop.
  • Provide excellent retail service, product knowledge, and fitting assistance.
  • Support inventory management, receiving, and point-of-sale accuracy.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and supervising assistant professionals and outside service associates.
  • Model professionalism, organization, and service excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments (Food & Beverage, Events, Membership, etc.) to ensure aligned execution.
  • Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Head Golf Professional.
Administrative Support
  • Assist with tournament software management.
  • Support budgeting, reporting, and operational planning.
  • Maintain accurate records and operational procedures.

Qualifications
  • PGA Associate or PGA Member in good standing (or actively pursuing Class A status).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect authentically with members.
