The 1st Assistant Golf Professional assists the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional in all aspects of golf operations at a private country club. This position helps deliver a high-quality member experience through professional service, tournament administration, merchandising, instruction, and daily golf operations. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, hospitality, organizational skills, and a passion for the game of golf.

Golf Operations
  • Assist in the daily management of golf operations, including tee sheet management, cart operations, pace of play, and practice facility oversight.
  • Provide exceptional service and engagement with members and guests.
  • Open and close golf facilities according to club procedures.
  • Coordinate and supervise outside services staff and starters/rangers.
  • Maintain professional standards throughout the golf operation.
Tournament & Event Management
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing member tournaments and club events.
  • Prepare tournament materials, pairings, scorecards, and results using golf management software.
  • Manage scoring and communicate results in a professional and timely manner.
  • Support member-guest events and special club functions.
Golf Shop & Merchandising
  • Assist with golf shop operations, including merchandising, inventory control, and sales.
  • Maintain attractive displays and ensure proper stock levels.
  • Process retail sales and reconcile daily transactions.
  • Promote merchandise and special-order products for members.
Instruction & Player Development
  • Provide individual and group golf instruction to members and junior golfers.
  • Assist with junior golf programs, clinics, and player development initiatives.
  • Encourage member participation in golf activities and instructional programs.
Member Services
  • Build strong relationships with club members and guests.
  • Address member concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Maintain a welcoming and service-oriented atmosphere at all times.
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduling staff and maintaining payroll records.
  • Prepare reports and support department budgeting efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with club policies, safety standards, and PGA guidelines.
  • Class A PGA Member in good standing 
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in golf operations, preferably at a private club.
  • Strong knowledge of tournament operations and golf shop management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with golf software systems such as Golf Genius, Jonas, Club Prophet, or ForeUP preferred.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak season.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
