Job Summary
Under general supervision, the inside Golf Shop Assistant is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to golfing and non-golfing guests within the Golf Shop environment. This position assists with guest check-in, retail sales, tee time reservations, and general golf operations while helping maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming Golf Shop atmosphere. The role may also assist with various operational tasks and projects supporting the golf club, including tournaments, merchandising, guest services, special events, and other day-to-day golf operations as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are essential to the employee's position. Some responsibilities are seasonal in nature.

Guest Experience & Customer Service
  • Welcome and assist golfing and non-golfing guests in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Check in guests for scheduled golf tee times and assist with daily golf operations.
  • Answer guest questions regarding the golf course, resort amenities, merchandise, services, and general property information.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to help create a positive guest experience.
  • Work collaboratively with other areas within the golf club to support the club operations.

Tee Times, Telephone & Email Responsibilities
  • Answer telephones promptly and professionally while assisting with guest inquiries and tee time reservations.
  • Reserve, modify, and manage tee times using the golf reservation system.
  • Assist guests with golf-related questions, scheduling, and operational information.
  • Ensure proper approval has been obtained for Employee Golf.
  • Respond to all direct golf shop group emails during your shift.

Retail Sales & Point of Sale Operation
  • Assist guests with merchandise selection and Golf Shop purchases.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process retail sales, tee times, and other transactions accurately.
  • Assist with cash handling and daily transaction procedures in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain knowledge of Golf Shop merchandise, promotions, and retail offerings.

Merchandising & Golf Shop Appearance
  • May assist with stocking merchandise, organizing displays, and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the Golf Shop sales floor.

Safety & Incident Response
  • Remain attentive to retail activity within the Golf Shop and promptly report suspected shoplifting, theft, suspicious activity, or other security concerns to management according to company procedures.
  • May assist in completing accident and incident reports for golfers and visitors within the golf shop.
  • May be requested to contact emergency contacts.

Cross-Departmental Support
  • Support other departments with their duties when requested or assigned.

Other
  • Attend meetings and trainings, as scheduled.
  • Conform with all safety standards and use of all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience Required
Attending or graduating from High school / GED. Minimum one (1) year of retail experience, preferably in a golf environment. Previous experience in a customer-service-related position.
Skills and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of golf operations, terminology, and etiquette preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills with guests and fellow team-mates in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Possess an outgoing personality with a desire to positively represent the golf course.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately.

Computer Skills
Required:

Ability to work schedule required to fulfill duties of position. At times, individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as appropriate. Must seek approval from supervisor before incurring overtime, Schedule flexibility which may include weekends and holidays.
Part-Time Positions:
  • Busy Season: You are expected to be available to work the hours required for the shift/position. Generally speaking, we require a minimum of 3 shifts per week, including weekends.
  • Non-Peak Season: Generally speaking, you are expect to work a minimum of 2-3 weeks per shift, including weekends. With manager approval, a minimum of 1 shift per pay period is required but only granted in limited situations.
  • You are expected to work the schedule assigned, which may include weekends and holidays, in alignment with business needs.
  • You are expected to be reliable and dependable, meeting attendance requirements including requesting time off in advance.

Full-Time Positions:
  • Busy Season: You are expected to be available to work up to or near 40 hours per week, including covering shifts and working overtime as needed.
  • Non-Peak Season: A minimum of 30 hours per workweek is required. You may be scheduled for additional hours if business needs require it.
  • You are expected to work the schedule assigned, which may include weekends and holidays, in alignment with business needs.
  • You are expected to be reliable and dependable, meeting attendance requirements including requesting time off in advance.
  • Please note that any changes to your full-time availability may impact your employment classification. A reduction in availability may result in a change.
