Job description

Company Description

VERSANT (Nasdaq: VSNT) is an industry-changing media and entertainment business and home to trusted brands that shape culture, inform audiences, and build lasting connections. It operates across four core markets: political news and opinion, business news and personal finance, golf, and sports and genre entertainment. These markets are served through a powerful portfolio of iconic and innovative brands, including CNBC, MS NOW, USA Network, Golf Channel, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Versant's sports division USA Sports, along with complementary digital assets including Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow and GolfPass.

Job Description

The Finance Systems Manager leads the technical strategy, roadmap, delivery, support, and evolution of Versant Media’s financial systems, including the interconnected platforms and third-party solutions that comprise the broader technology ecosystem supporting the full array of financial needs across core finance domains, including General Ledger & Record-to-Report (R2R), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Order-to-Cash (O2C), Revenue Accounting & Billing, Treasury & Cash Management, Tax, Fixed Assets & Capital Accounting, Project Accounting, Cost & Inventory Accounting, Consolidations & External Reporting, Compliance & Internal Controls (SOX), and Payroll & Workforce Finance.

Though SAP ECC is the ERP currently, the organization will shortly be undergoing a financial system transformation that will lead us to implement a new ERP for Versant. While the future ERP is not yet selected, this role will be pivotal in that transformation. The ideal candidate will bring a technology-agnostic mindset – managing the development and support of the current ecosystem while guiding the evolution in a way that maximizes business value, regardless of vendor or platform. This role ensures engineering teams and stakeholders work closely together to align solutions and roadmaps with business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical strategy and roadmap for Versant Media’s enterprise financial systems ecosystem, ensuring alignment with Finance leadership priorities across all core domains including Controllership, Revenue, Procurement, Treasury, Tax, Payroll, and Financial Reporting

  • Lead architecture and solution design governance across the financial technology landscape, ensuring scalable, secure, and well-integrated platforms that support both current operations and future modernization initiatives

  • Drive enterprise financial systems transformation initiatives, guiding platform selection, operating model design, implementation planning, and phased execution to maximize long-term business value

  • Oversee engineering delivery and operational support across the financial systems ecosystem, ensuring reliability, performance, data integrity, and service-level excellence

  • Establish and enforce engineering standards and best practices, including system design, integration patterns, testing frameworks, release management, environment strategy, and production support models

  • Partner closely with stakeholders to translate business strategy into technology capabilities, aligning roadmaps, sequencing investments, and influencing enterprise outcomes

  • Ensure financial data integrity and controls alignment, supporting compliance, audit readiness, and regulatory requirements in collaboration with Controllership and Internal Controls teams

  • Define and oversee integration and data architecture strategy, ensuring seamless interoperability across finance platforms and upstream/downstream enterprise systems

  • Manage and develop high-performing engineering teams and external partners, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement

  • Oversee vendor strategy and performance management, ensuring third-party partners deliver against defined outcomes, contractual obligations, and value expectations

  • Drive value realization and investment governance, establishing OKRs and KPIs to ensure financial systems investments deliver efficiency, transparency, and business impact

  • Communicate program health, risks, and strategic recommendations clearly and effectively to senior leadership, enabling informed decision-making and prioritization

  • Ensure system resilience and risk management, including business continuity planning, security alignment, and proactive mitigation of operational and technical risks

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise financial systems, with at least 3+ years in engineering, architecture, or technical leadership roles within complex enterprise environments

  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale financial systems initiatives, including modernization, transformation, or large platform implementations

  • Deep understanding of core finance domains, including Controllership (R2R), Revenue, Procure-to-Pay, Treasury, Tax, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reporting, and how systems enable those processes

  • Strong expertise in enterprise financial platforms (ERP and adjacent finance applications), with the ability to operate effectively in a multi-system, integrated ecosystem

  • Experience defining solution architecture, integration strategies, and data models supporting financial operations and reporting

  • Working knowledge of financial controls, compliance requirements (e.g., SOX), and audit considerations, with the ability to ensure systems align to regulatory and reporting standards

  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams, including managing onshore/offshore resources and third-party vendors

  • Experience establishing engineering standards, SDLC processes, release management discipline, and operational support models within enterprise environments

  • Demonstrated success aligning technology roadmaps to business strategy, partnering effectively with Finance and executive stakeholders

  • Strong vendor management and commercial acumen, including evaluating technology platforms, negotiating deliverables, and driving measurable value realization

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred

  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and executive presentation skills, with the ability to influence both technical teams and senior business leaders
