Job description

Job title: Permission Planner

We are currently seeking a Permission Planner to join our team.

 

Essential Functions

  • Discuss access, power interruption, and required work with the customer or property owner.
  • Addresses responsibility for visible property damage and handles repairs for minor damage, referring disputed cases to the General Foreperson.
  • Frequently travels between job sites as required.
  • Performs Customer Service and scheduling: Daily interaction with homeowners, businesses, and local government. 
  • Obtains oral or written permission from property owners to trim or remove trees and apply herbicides near high-voltage electric facilities. 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to: 
    1. Safely drive an approved company vehicle.
    2. Write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
    3. Engage in communication and manage confrontations with professionalism.
    4. Read maps and utilize geographic information systems (GIS). 
    5. Utilize mobile devices with email, Outlook, and MS Excel. 
  • Must have transportation to and from the show-up location.

Experience and Certifications:

  • 3 years of arboricultural, horticultural, or vegetation-related experience OR a 2-year or 4-year degree in a related subject. 
  • Experience with Utility Vegetation Management is preferred. 
  • GO95 and state wildland fire codes. ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist is a plus. 
  • ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Utility Specialist, ISA TRAQ, CTSP Certification, OSHA-30, preferred.

Pre-Screen:

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

 

License and certification:

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License. A CDL is a plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • RARE (less than 10%): Sitting, Kneeling, Crawling, Color Vision, and Climbing Stairs.
  • OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): Stooping, Squatting, Climbing On/Off the Truck, Reading, Pushing, Climbing Ladders, and Lifting up to 50 LBS.
  • FREQUENT (up to 66%): Walking, Body Twisting, Manual Dexterity, Speaking Clearly, Hearing – Speech Range, Lifting, Carrying, Pulling, Balancing, and Lifting up to 10 LBS.
  • CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): Standing, Sense of Touch, Seeing Distant, Climbing, Gripping, Lifting over 10 LBS to 50 LBS, Seeing, Reaching, Range of Motion, and Depth Perception.

Safety:

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.

  • Exposed to natural elements such as plants that may irritate, insects that may bite or sting, and dust.
  • May be exposed to dogs and other animals.
  • Works at varying heights above ground with proper Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Works around excessive noise from machines, jackhammers, chainsaws, and other equipment with proper hearing protection.
