Job description

Shift avail: 1st 7am-3pm / 3rd shift 11pm-7am
OBJECTIVE OF THIS POSITION
The purpose of the Gluer Operator I is to serve as an entry-level trainee position that will train with the Gluer Operator III position, to ensure that the department is able to run during breaks, lunches, and shift change over times. The Gluer Operator I will first learn to assist all Gluer Operators to learn the machines and keep them running at all times. The Gluer Operator I will take direction from the Gluer Operator III trainers. After a series of skills assessments and additional training, the Gluer Operator I will learn to independently set up and operate the folder/gluer machine to fold materials and glue edges to form cartons to specific customer demands. The Gluer Operator I must be constantly checking the quality of the cards to ensure these demands are met. This position must help engage others in the productivity of work and assist others in getting their job done as well. The work completed by the Gluer Operator I requires detailed communication with Gluer Operator II/II to ensure that the product delivered error free and to customer expectations.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

Assist all Gluer Operators and run a set up machine during breaks, shift change, and other time away from machine.
Inform the Gluer Operator they are assisting with any issues with quality or machine while they were away.
Learn to review work order, gluing requirements, and job specifics, to determine components, settings, and adjustments for the gluer/folder machine.
Read and interpret orders to specify exactly how the customer wants the order done.
Monitor the operators of the glue machinery and ensure that the products processed confer to client specifications.
Learn to examine finished products to ensure finalized sample meets job order requirements.
Closely observe operation of machine to detect malfunctions and inform operator or supervisor.
Adjust machine controls to position and align as needed.
Manage inventory for glue and tags.
Observe feeding and folding of material and gluing edges to detect machine malfunction.
Inspect completed cartons to verify conformance to work order specifications and adjust machine controls to correct variations.
Perform the routine maintenance tasks of cleaning, lubricating, and repairing the glue machinery.
Configure where the fold and break should be and where glue should be placed.
Adjust machine components according to requirements such as widths, lengths, and thickness of materials and amounts of glue.
Assist the duties of the packers on the line to ensure they're doing their job correctly and paying close attention to the quality of the products.
Enter accurate job data such as entering counts, quality records, and inventory.
Clean and lubricate machine to maintain equipment in working order.
Master basic Gluer Operator skills such as: straight line, auto-bottom, and straight line tuck job requirements without aid.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma
  • Pass Bennett Mechanical Aptitude Test
  • Able to carry/lift an average of 50 lbs.
  • Adhering to attendance policy with limited unscheduled time away or call offs
  • Understanding production KPI metrics and expectations
  • Safety expectations include the consistent use of required safety PPE:
