Salesforce & Fundraising Operations Associate

Position Overview
The Salesforce & Fundraising Operations Associate is responsible for supporting and optimizing Room to Read's fundraising systems, reporting infrastructure, and data operations. Serving as the primary administrator for Salesforce NPSP and related fundraising platforms, this role ensures that Development & Communications teams have reliable data, effective systems, and actionable insights to support donor engagement and fundraising performance.
Working closely with Development & Communications, Finance, and IT teams, the Associate develops reports and dashboards, manages data quality, provides user support and training, and drives process improvements. This role requires strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance competing priorities while serving stakeholders across multiple teams, countries, and systems.
The successful candidate is a proactive problem solver who takes time to understand business needs, communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, and recommends solutions that support organizational goals while maintaining data integrity and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Salesforce Administration, Reporting & Data Management (60%)
  • Maintain the integrity, accuracy, and usability of fundraising data across Salesforce NPSP and related systems.

  • Create, maintain, and enhance Salesforce dashboards, reports, and analytics to support fundraising strategy and decision-making.

  • Develop complex Salesforce reports, including matrix reports, joined reports, cross-object reporting, formula fields, bucket fields, and custom views.

  • Monitor and improve data quality, including donation processing, imports, constituent records, revenue tracking, and soft credits.

  • Conduct data analysis and provide insights on fundraising performance, donor trends, and key metrics.

  • Prepare data, reports, and analyses for leadership presentations, planning discussions, and strategic decision-making.

  • Design and implement processes that improve fundraising teams' access to accurate constituent and donor information.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency across fundraising systems.

Stakeholder Support, Training & System Adoption (25%)
  • Serve as a trusted partner to Development & Communications, Finance, and IT stakeholders, providing responsive support and guidance.

  • Gather requirements, clarify objectives, and translate business needs into effective system, reporting, and process solutions.

  • Manage user access, permissions, and day-to-day Salesforce administration and troubleshooting.

  • Develop and deliver user training, onboarding resources, and documentation that promote effective system use and adoption.

Project Management & Process Improvement (15%)
  • Lead CRM enhancements, system improvements, and process optimization initiatives from planning through implementation.

  • Coordinate project activities, testing, timelines, and stakeholder communications while managing multiple priorities across teams.

  • Evaluate proposed changes and implement improvements that strengthen efficiency, data quality, reporting effectiveness, and user experience across global operations.

Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience, including reporting, dashboards, workflows, and data management.

  • Strong experience gathering requirements, understanding stakeholder needs, and translating business objectives into effective CRM, reporting, and process solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and competing stakeholder requests while exercising sound judgment, setting expectations, and communicating effectively.

  • Experience maintaining data quality, data integrity, and governance across interconnected systems, with an understanding of how changes in one system or process may impact others.

  • Excellent communication, listening, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify practical, scalable solutions.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage projects, deadlines, and changing priorities.

  • Experience supporting end users through training, troubleshooting, and adoption of business systems and processes.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, lookups, and data analysis.

  • Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) strongly preferred.

Preferred
  • Salesforce Administrator certification.

  • Experience supporting fundraising, donor management, advancement, membership, or nonprofit operations.

  • Experience working with integrated CRM, finance, reporting, or data platforms.

  • Experience working in a global organization across multiple countries, currencies, and reporting environments.

  • Familiarity with SQL, data querying, Salesforce integrations, or Apex.

Success in the Role
Within the first 6 months, the successful candidate will:
  • Strengthen data integrity and establish clear data governance standards across fundraising systems.

  • Improve the quality, usability, and adoption of fundraising dashboards and reports.

  • Build trusted partnerships with Development, Communications, Finance, and IT stakeholders.

  • Deliver effective user training and support that increases confidence and system adoption.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.

We Offer:
The salary range for this role is $63,000 to $77,000. Compensation may vary depending on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, and relevant education or certifications. Benefits include:
