Assistant Principal – Intercoastal Campus

Position Type: Full-Time, 12-Month

Location: Global Leadership Academy Intercoastal Campus, Jacksonville, Florida

Position Overview-

The Assistant Principal serves as a key instructional leader responsible for supporting the Principal in the implementation of academic programs, instructional coaching, professional development, student achievement initiatives, and school operations. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with teachers, instructional coaches, support staff, students, and families to ensure high levels of academic success and a positive school culture.

Key Responsibilities-
  • Instructional Leadership
  • Analyze longitudinal student achievement data to identify instructional strengths, areas for growth, and professional development needs.
  • Design and support a comprehensive professional development plan aligned to school improvement goals.
  • Ensure effective implementation of ESE, ESOL, MTSS, and other required instructional programs.
  • Monitor and support teacher coaching cycles to maximize instructional effectiveness and student achievement.
  • Train instructional coaches and evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and support systems.
  • Provide ongoing instructional feedback through classroom walkthroughs, observations, and coaching conversations.
  • Support the implementation of innovative instructional practices and educational technology.
  • Collaborate with teachers and instructional teams to prioritize standardsbased instruction and intervention strategies.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan.
  • Student Achievement and Academic Support-

  • Gather, analyze, and monitor student achievement data to drive instructional decisionmaking.
  • Coordinate academic intervention systems and monitor student progress.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with teachers to review student performance and identify intervention needs.
  • Support positive academic support systems that promote student success.
  • Work collaboratively with special education, ESOL, and student support teams to address student needs.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student academic progress and intervention plans.
  • Staff Development and Supervision-
  • Observe and evaluate instructional staff through formal and informal observations, walkthroughs, and coaching cycles.
  • Conduct teacher conferences and provide actionable feedback to improve instructional practice.
  • Provide jobembedded professional development based on student performance data and instructional needs.
  • Support the recruitment, development, and retention of highly effective educators.
  • Promote a positive school culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • School Operations and Leadership-
  • Assist with the development and management of the master schedule to maximize instructional opportunities.
  • Monitor and implement schoolwide systems, events, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, federal, and charter requirements.
  • Support school safety, student discipline, attendance initiatives, and campus operations.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, professional learning opportunities, and district initiatives.
  • Review requests for instructional materials and equipment within approved budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
  • Qualifications-
  • Valid Florida Educational Leadership Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Valid Florida Teaching Certificate.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful instructional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional coaching, teacher development, and student achievement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Florida academic standards, assessment systems, MTSS, ESE, and ESOL requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problemsolving skills.
  • Education-
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field preferred.
  • Work Environment-
  • This position operates primarily within a school setting and may require participation in school events outside normal working hours.
  • Ability to move throughout the campus and participate in classroom observations and school activities.
