Job Description

Position Title: School Bus Operator Part-time

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer & Principal

Term: Twelve (12) month position, salaried or Part-Time, hourly


POSITION SUMMARY

The School Bus Operator transports students to and from school and related events. The bus operator also is responsible for transporting students and staff on field trips and to extracurricular performances or sporting events.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES


Transportation

  • Transport students to and from school
  • Transport students and staff for field trips and to/from extracurricular activities or other school related events
  • Provide transportation services to other schools as needed

Supervision

  • Monitor student behavior
  • Provide correction when necessary
  • Ensure all passengers adhere to the rules of the bus and the code of conduct as outlined in the GLA handbook
  • Communicate all incidents to Dean of Students and complete necessary paperwork

Safety

  • Practice safe and responsible driving
  • Obey all traffic laws to avoid accidents and other hazards
  • Keep bus free of dirt, debris, and any material deemed hazardous
  • Inspect bus regularly for any signs of problems and report them to Director of Management Services

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma
  • Must hold a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and any endorsements required
  • Excellent driving record
  • Experience working with elementary school children
  • Must be punctual
  • Familiar with City of Philadelphia
