A glazer is a tradesperson who installs, repairs, and replaces glass in windows, doors, and other structures. They work with various types of glass, including safety, decorative, and insulated glass, in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Glazers measure, cut, and secure glass using specialized tools and techniques. Their job also involves working with frameworks, sealants, and sometimes lifting heavy materials. Safety is a key concern, as glazers often work at heights and handle sharp materials.

What does a glazer do?

As a Glazer, your typical workday involves preparing and installing glass in windows, doors, skylights, storefronts, and occasionally decorative panels, both in new construction and renovation projects. You may work indoors or outdoors, often on ladders or scaffolding, and might collaborate with other construction professionals such as carpenters or general contractors. To thrive as a Glazer, you need solid manual dexterity, precision, and experience with glass cutting, measuring, and installation techniques, often supported by a high school diploma or apprenticeship training. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication enhance a Glazer's performance on job sites. These skills are critical to ensure safe, high-quality glazing work and seamless coordination with other trades and clients.
